Whilst speaking to a MUA friend of mine the other day, the subject of exfoliation for clients and the Clarisonic came up. Celebrity make-up artists KJ Bennet and Jordan Liberty swear by the Clarisonic and it's abilities to make anyone's skin look pretty darn good. Even Wayne of Gossmakeupartist likes it. It seems as though the Clarisonic is definitely making it into the kits of some of the industry's best make-up artists.
Clarisonic says
"...Clarisonic is a professional-caliber brush that uses a gentle sonic micro-massage action to cleanse deeply. Clarisonic gently clears pores without harsh abrasion or chemicals, cleansing so effectively that all of your other skincare products absorb better.
Clinical results include 6x more makeup removed than with manual cleansing, reduced appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles, and improved skin tone."
Sounds great huh? Well if you'd like this handy device it is currently available in the UK from Space NK for a smooth £150. Yeah you read right. £150. I would love to pick one up but at this present moment I don't have 150 individual pounds to spend on an electric facial brush. You need to see my make-up wish list to understand why it's not at the top! Instead the cheapo inside of me did a bit of research to see what alternatives were available to the regular woman out there who wants a good exfoliating experience without the hefty price tag. Check out these facial brushes that are purse friendly but can give a pretty good result. Work it!
Facial Brush - Natural Bristle
They say,
"Made from Hemu Wood and Natural Bristle, this handy little brush is superb for exfoliation and face polishing. Use gently with your favourite facial wash."
Google is a great thing I tell you! I found this brush for a mere 82p (it could be too good to be true but for the price I'm willing to try it!)
Facial Brush with a lid
Body shop says,
"A small nylon brush for the face suitable for use with cleansers, facial washes or exfoliators from The Body Shop®. The ergonomically improved shape allows for maximum control. Supplied with a flush-fitting lid, which allows excess water to be drawn away from the bristles after use for increased hygiene and protection."
Rhamnousia did a post recently on her Body shop facial brush. I was intrigued and picked the new Body shop version that looks like the one above for an recession busting £3.00. I have to say that so far I have already noticed a visible difference in my skin. I had a mini break out but I kinda expected that. Even David says that I look like I'm glowing. Extra points!! The brush is a lot smaller than you think but for the purpose it serves, it works really well. All you need to do is put your regular facial cleanser on the brush and massage away the dead skin and gunk. For £3.00 I am very happy with the result.
Dermalogica Exfoliating Face Brush
What Dermalogica say,
"The Face Brush by Dermalogica will supercharge your cleanser with its ultra-soft bristles. Perfect to compliment a mans skin care regimen to prevent ingrown facial hairs and gently exfoliate dead skin cells. Durable, hygienic, and quick-drying nylon bristles gently loosen dead skin cells and debris for excellent results. The Face Brush by Dermalogica is packaged in a convenient travel case. This brush can help you get the most out of your Dermalogica skin care regimen including our anti-aging and sensitive skin care products."
This brush retails from about £11.50 and its the first facial brush that included male users in its description. To be honest it probably doesn't really matter who uses it but gentlemen you aren't forgotten. If you're interested in this brush, shop around. It seems to come in a variety of prices.
Eco Friendly Facial Brush
This brush is looks as thought it could be another good find. Especially for you eco-friendly ladies out there, this facial brush is right up your alley. It retails for £7.50, is hand made from sustainable resources, is fair trade and gentle on your skin! Wonderful all rounder! Check it out.
They say,
"Made from sustainable beech wood this face brush is used to gently exfoliate your skin. The bristles (made from natural fibres) get rid of any dead skin cells, revealing new and younger looking skin within weeks. A superior quality face brush that looks great and last a long time."
I hope that gives you a few options when it comes to facial brushes. You might not have thought to get one but seeing as they are affordable why not try one and see if it makes a difference for you. If you do, let me know. I love to hear back from you guys. And if you are already using another one or find a different one, tell me. I'm curious to know just how many options we have out there in the world of facial brushes.
It's friday! Have a blessed weekend!
