Whatever Happend to P-Rock? 2nd Birthday at The Macbeth this Saturday!

Hey fashion fans!

Excuse my lack of updates. Been super busy DJing at Soul/Swing/Rock and Roll night Let's Twist Again at Shoreditch's Catch Bar, which happens on the third Friday of every month, and also helping my friends out with their club night Stitch!

Stitch! hosted a room at Bournemouth night We are your Friends: The Block Party, which saw us decorating the top room of The Old Fire Station club with hearts, stars and a whole manner of pretty things! Music was crunk, electro, house and hip hop! I had the best time! Stitch! also held their second London club night at Catch Bar with a Lil jon theme. It was a great turn out also and the dance floor packed all night. The decor was equally as crazy too with leopard and zebra print all over the walls and silver dollar signs up in homage to the king of crunk himself!

But am back to let you know that a ska/punk/hardcore/emo night I DJ at is turning 2! To celebrate its birthday, the night will be free and the extended licence means we'll be partying til 4am! Expect the likes of Rancid, Lagwagon, Green Day, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Pennywise, Goldfinger, Reel Big Fish Less than Jake, Distillers, Blink 182, Midtown plus many more from me.

Been gigging and reviewing lots of shows recently too. Expect reviews from London Ska Festival, MC Lars, The Urban Voodoo Machine and Slam Dunk Festival up soon. Also an interview I did with Less than Jake at Slam Dunk. I was backstage at the event bumping into the likes of MC Lars, Reel Big Fish and a whole host of other bands playing the event! So much fun! In the mean time check out writing by me here:

Happy belated new year! Hope you had a good one. I am fresh back from my trip to Australia where I had been travelling around for the past month. I even had Christmas dinner with an actor from Neighbours, can you belive it?! It was the Aussie dream! Bonza!

I wrote a couple of reviews before I went away too. One is from a Drums gig in Kentish Town and the other was of a Madness show at Earls Court.

Cher Lloyd gets a make under

Cher Lloyd is out and about to get a make under!
Check out our printed tees , scarves and trousers from our limited edition range (as seen in star magazine and grazia!)

Cheryl Cole has been bleating on about Cher Lloyd – pictured arriving at rehearsals in London this afternoon – and she reckons viewers will be stunned when her protégée gets a make-under and performs a ballad on the show.

She said, “She’s going to be one of those acts where you suddenly go, ‘Wow!’ When we do a ballad you’ll see how much of a great singer she is” - No pressure there then.

Chezza continued, “She can really, really sing. She just has it. We’ll strip off her make-up and just make her a pretty girl with a fresh face and no snarling.”

So lets get this straight, Cheryl’s basically saying Cher is an ugly, dirty faced, snarler? That’s not very nice is it?!

Whatever Happend to P-Rock? and Whatever Happend to Nu Metal? Club nights

Hey hey! If you're a boarder or skater, you might be into the stuff I play at club night Whatever Happend to P-Rock? which takes place at The Macbeth in trendy Hoxton. Not far from Old Street or Liverpool Street. The last show had Justin Sane from Anti-Flag performing his solo stuff last month. It was awesome as I got to see the guy in such a small venue and he was full of cool stories about the political punk band that he fronts.

I djed before and after his set playing the likes of Rancid, Good Riddance, NOFX, Mad Caddies, Snuff, Bouncing Souls, Goldfinger, Frenzal Rhomb, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Anti-Flag, Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, Lagwagon, Pennywise, Big D and the Kids Table, Distillers etc etc. After my set Justin told me that I played his favourite NOFX song 'Seeing Double at the Triple Rock' and that he was flattered that I played his track 'Turncoat'.

The next P-Rock is Saturday 18th September and will feature Boston Pop-Punk outfit A Loss For Words (www.myspace.com/alossforwords) plus support.
Check out all the details here:

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=65488405822&ref=ts#!/event.php?eid=136460393054441&index=1

Also, if you loved or still adore the likes of Slipknot, Deftones, Taproot, System of a Down, Limp Bizkit, Lost Prophets, Korn, Drowning Pool, Fear Factory, Spineshank, Sepultura, Soulfly, Mudvayne, Kittie, Machinehead, Orgy, Marilyn Manson, Linkin Park, Rage Against the Machine, HedPE, Static X, Glassjaw, Alien Ant Farm, Disturbed, Kid Rock, POD, Raging Speedhorn, Puddle of Mudd, Rob Zombie etc etc..... Then you might like sister club night Whatever Happend to Nu Metal? which also takes place at The Macbeth. I had a great time DJing at the last one, also last month and can't wait for the next!

DVD and album reviews on Subba Cultcha

Hey all, I have reviewed some new releases on Subba Cultcha.

First was comedy It's a Wonderful Afterlife, which was filmed in Ealing - the home of Misticon HQ! http://www.subba-cultcha.com/film-reviews/article.php?contentID=20771

Next was Centurion, a Roman period drama. http://www.subba-cultcha.com/film-reviews/article.php?contentID=20773

I've also reviewed The Count and Sinden's debut album Mega Mega Mega. If you like electro mixed with indie, dubstep, hip hop and latin beats; then this is for you. http://www.subba-cultcha.com/album-reviews/article.php?contentID=20780

Enjoy! More reviews are on their way. I have a stack of CDs and DVDs to watch and write about over the weekend! I am also currently loving the True Blood and Son of Anarchy series and cannot wait to see The Expendables next week so I can drool over Dolf Lundgren! But why did Sly Stallone leave out The Muscles from Brussels in his casting line up?! That's what I want to know!

Rebellion Festival review on Subba Cultcha

This is me with Charlie, the front-man of legendary punk band UK Subs. I reviewed the old skool punk festival Rebellion in Blackpool at the beginning of this month, where I got to photograph and write about the original punk rockers as well as more contemporary artists including Vice Squad, Penetration, Big D and the Kids Table, F***ed Up, Citizen Fish, Star F***ing Hipsters, The Slackers, Dwarves, Agnostic Front, Gallows, UK Subs plus many many more.

This was one of the best festivals I have ever attended. The crowd were the friendliest bunch I have ever encountered, the organisation of the event meant very few bands I wanted to see were clashing and there was absolutely no trouble whatsoever.

Check out my review at: http://www.subba-cultcha.com/live-reviews/article.php?contentID=20793

Camp Bestival review on Subba Cultcha

Hey hey!! It's been a busy old Summer. Camp Bestival was one of the amazing festivals I was out reviewing! Here's me and my buddy Becky chilling during The Wurzels set! One of the festival's highlight along with Madness, Pronghorn, Friendly Fires, The Human League, The Cuban Brothers and Seth Lakeman.
I was lucky enough to have a back stage pass so I got to rub shoulders with the likes of Lee Scratch Perry, The Cuban Brothers, Madness, The Hypnotic Bass Ensemble and Pete and the Pirates; as well as use some rather posh flushing toilets!

Morocco and too manys gigs

Gosh, it has been an age since my last update. I have just been too busy having fun. Last time we spoke, I was getting ready for Slam Dunk Festival, which happend on the 2nd may bank holiday - blimey end of may?! I have seriously neglected on the blog front! Though to honest, it wasn't the best of experiences!

Read my review here!

But lots of gigs in June got me back on track including the amazing bagpipe folk punks Dropkick Murphys at Brixton Academy and Scottish indie rockers Idlewild at The Forum. Aerosmith at the 02 showed that they were still the bad boys from Boston on their Cocked, Locked and Ready to Rock Tour. Though saying that they did play a very similar set to when I saw them at Hyde Park three years ago! It was a nice warm up though as the following day I went to Morocco on holiday with Mr One Piece! We stayed in Marrakech, which is famous for its snake charmers, markets and souks; as well as lovely food and lots of haggling!

We also managed to fit in an excursion to the Sahara Desert, staying the night in a tent with lots of other back packers. The desert people took us on camel rides as well as cooking for us and playing music into the night. Watching the sunset and sun rise out there was amazing! On route to the Sahara we also got to see the atlas mountains, where Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia was filmed as well as other sites and casbahs! Truly memorable and I recommend going to you all!

If that weren't enough, a few days later after returning I was off to Hyde Park to see Sir Paul MacCartney play a mammouth two hour set of solo, Wings and Beatles classics. Though Coming Up and Temporary Secretary were missing, the likes of Band on the Run, Hey Jude, Live and Let Die, Jet, Get Back, Eleanor Rigby, Helter Skelter, Back in the USSR, Paper back Writer, Lady Madonna, Yesterday and Let It Be were all in there to temper the missing faves!

Day Tripper was a great surprise as it's a Lennon penned Beatles track, and Macca tends to stick to his own numbers!

And it was all rounded off with Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, which has the lyrics 'We hope you will enjoy the show'. Great way to end! We all certainly did.

Katy Perry does not deny Gaga attack

Well despite not using Lady Gaga's name or any direct wording that could pinpoint her tweet last week at pops craziest lady. Katy Perry didn't really go out of her way to deny that this comment "using blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian doing a fart joke" made on her twitter account the same day as Gaga's video for Alejandro was released which uses a lot of religious imagery.
Katy spoke to a french radio show where she said "spirituality and sexuality are two very different things" she compared the video to Maddonna and her boyfriend Russel Brand.
Both Katy's parents are pastors and she implied on the interview ( clip can be found at www.perezhilton.com ) that she just wasn't comfortable with religious imagery being used so loosely by pop culture.
The singer however did go to great lengths to state that despite her stance on certain moral issues she was a big Gaga fan.

Big Brother 11 extensive review of first episode

The Final series of Big Brother kicked off last night and for those of you who want to keep in the loop with the eleventh series
of the reality tv show but missed out on last nights circus themed affair we thought we'd fill you in. Big Brother invited 81 hopefuls
to meet each other on monday- they've spent the last few days getting to know each other and forming opinions of each other.
The show started with the freakiest bunch of contestants we have seen since well ever cheering outside as they waited to see
if they would make it into the house. 13 housemates were chosen at "random" from the crowd and even Davina claimed not to know a
thing about the housemates as they entered the building.
So who went in then?
Your typical typecast contestants include:
John- Aussie becks look a like- quite vain and into his appearance. He came all the way from down under to apply for the show.
Think of him as a cross between Mario and Ziggy.
David- 39 year old minister of alternative Christian sect. Apparantly his church regularly meet and get intoxicated on the spirit.
Rather notabley David entered dresse in full Monk atire with emo hair and a red streak. But we really like the fact David has a dog.
Rachael- Professional Beyonce look a like - quite convincing when she smiles (which doesnt seem to be very often)- and hair stylist
she claims she is "the hottest girl in the big brother house".
Shabby- Cross dressing film maker. We were totally convinced that shabby was a man until we heard her speak. She definitely is
over excitible and used the word pootang in her audition video. Apparantly she gets alot of it. We doubt it.
Ben- Writer and broadcaster. Seems a bit posh. Nothing else really stood out about him- apart from his jacket- he wore a nice jacket.
Josie- Crass a bit red, bit stuck in the early naughties. Josie is financial sales rep. Which basically means she works in a call
centre. She was the first housemate to enter the house. Our initial response- bit dull- kind of figure that sticks about forever because
no-one hates her no-one likes her.
Sunshine- daddies little girl introduces herself with a hilarious annecdote about lying that her car was broken so her dad would by her
a new one. Her real name is Yvette but she gets everyone to call her sunshine just because. She likes glittery things and glues them on
aparantly all of her personal items. Studying to be a medical student.
Steve- ex serviceman that got hit by a barrel bomb. Has to artificial legs and a black glass eye that he has for sports to freak out the
enemy. Steve has eight kids and rates his attractiveness as 8/10 he's also heavily tattoed.
Caoinhe- 22 year old student with Rihanna (circa Run this Town hair cut). Likes to flirt alot with women and men although isnt really
interested in the ladies (she might get Shabby round her little finger). Most boo-ed entrant to the house. Entered in body con suit- skinnies
and Grace Jones shades.
Nathan- Trainer Joiner proper lad. Quite tall and blonde. Can't really work out much more than that- read we got very bored whilst his video played.
Corin- Fancies herself as Jordan, kept falling out of her dress on her way into the house. The 29 year old retail worker with fake tan
and tightly pulled up hair do reckons she looks about 24. We think she looks about three years older than the real Katie Price.
Govan- Looks good with a hat on looks really really young without it. Govan is a volunteer worker and thinks hes rather intelligent because
he likes reading. Apparantly he likes a good laugh though. Thank God for that.
Ife- Starts her interview tape with a sob story. She was handed over by her mother to a white family as a baby- Ife is a proffessional dancer
who has backed Cheryl Cole and Tinchy Stryder. She's looking to launch her own musical career now. We expect lots of singing in the house.
Possibley the best dressed housemate.

What's the twist?
A Mole ( yep we are sure they do this unmissable turn every season) anyway his name is Mario. He will engage in a series of secret tasks that disrupt the
other housemates lives in order to gain his place as the 14th housemate. He will be hindered a little by having to actually dress like a mole and live in a hole.

Anything Else?
The tree has been cut down (the tree that got Dane to cook bad food and Alex to smash a snowman) and turned into a chest of drawers randomly placed in the bathroom.
