Air Guitar UK announce the 2011 UK Air Guitar Championships

Air Guitar UK, the official organisers of the UK Air Guitar Championships, have announced the time and place for 2011's event.

Now in its 6th year, the official UK Air Guitar Championships will be held on Saturday the 20th of August at The Garage in Islington, North London. The 2011 Championships, organised by Air Guitar UK, aiming to find the country's greatest air guitarist, who will be crowned UK Air Guitar Champion, and win a once in a lifetime trip to represent Britain in the battle for global supremacy at the World Air Guitar Championships in Finland.

Artistic Director, Danny Robertson, speaking from Air Guitar UK's headquarters earlier today, lay down the challenge:
“Calling all Air-heads! You bedroom braggarts, pub pool-cue pluckers, unseen Strat strummers and mirror movers with the sharp manoeuvres - The gauntlet is thrown! The time is set! The place is decided! You can't dodge fate. Feel it in the pit of your stomach? That's the air calling, and it wants YOU! This year's UK Air Guitar Championships, the ultimate battle to decide the country's greatest air guitarist, an air-off of epic proportions and spectacle not to be missed, will be held on Saturday the 20th of August at The Garage in London.”

Air Guitar UK run the only UK Championships affiliated to the World Air Guitar Championships, now in its 16th year, which will be held on Friday the 26th of August in Oulu, Finland, as part of the highly-regarded Oulu Music Video Festival.
The UK competition, held in support of the Teenage Cancer Trust, will feature celebrity-host Fancy Chance – 'burlesque terrorist' and former Alternative Miss World – plus judges from top metal bands, Gazz Marlow, lead guitarist of InMe, and SikTh vocalist Justin Hill.

In the run up to the Championships, Air Guitar UK will be attempting another world record for the largest Air Guitar Ensemble in partnership with Action on Hearing Loss at this year's WOMAD Festival on Sunday 31st July. Air Guitar UK are very proud to be teaming up with Action On Hearing Loss, the charity working on behalf of the country's 9 million deaf and hard of hearing people, to smash the Guinness World Record for the largest air guitar ensemble! The event will be hosted by reknowned music producer Justin Adams, and witnessed by current UK Air Guitar Champion Thom 'Wildthing37' Wilding.

There will also be the first ever 'warm up party' at Animal, a new night in Hoxton's Macbeth pub, where air-band The Air O'Smiths will 'play', and an audience-judged qualifying round will take place. There will also be a Guitar Hero area set up, a face painter and a hair metal dress up contest – with the winner receiving a bottle of Jagermeister as their prize!

Whatever Happend to P-Rock? 2nd Birthday at The Macbeth this Saturday!

Hey fashion fans!

Excuse my lack of updates. Been super busy DJing at Soul/Swing/Rock and Roll night Let's Twist Again at Shoreditch's Catch Bar, which happens on the third Friday of every month, and also helping my friends out with their club night Stitch!

Stitch! hosted a room at Bournemouth night We are your Friends: The Block Party, which saw us decorating the top room of The Old Fire Station club with hearts, stars and a whole manner of pretty things! Music was crunk, electro, house and hip hop! I had the best time! Stitch! also held their second London club night at Catch Bar with a Lil jon theme. It was a great turn out also and the dance floor packed all night. The decor was equally as crazy too with leopard and zebra print all over the walls and silver dollar signs up in homage to the king of crunk himself!

But am back to let you know that a ska/punk/hardcore/emo night I DJ at is turning 2! To celebrate its birthday, the night will be free and the extended licence means we'll be partying til 4am! Expect the likes of Rancid, Lagwagon, Green Day, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Pennywise, Goldfinger, Reel Big Fish Less than Jake, Distillers, Blink 182, Midtown plus many more from me.

Been gigging and reviewing lots of shows recently too. Expect reviews from London Ska Festival, MC Lars, The Urban Voodoo Machine and Slam Dunk Festival up soon. Also an interview I did with Less than Jake at Slam Dunk. I was backstage at the event bumping into the likes of MC Lars, Reel Big Fish and a whole host of other bands playing the event! So much fun! In the mean time check out writing by me here:
