Whatever Happend to P-Rock? and Whatever Happend to Nu Metal? Club nights

Hey hey! If you're a boarder or skater, you might be into the stuff I play at club night Whatever Happend to P-Rock? which takes place at The Macbeth in trendy Hoxton. Not far from Old Street or Liverpool Street. The last show had Justin Sane from Anti-Flag performing his solo stuff last month. It was awesome as I got to see the guy in such a small venue and he was full of cool stories about the political punk band that he fronts.

I djed before and after his set playing the likes of Rancid, Good Riddance, NOFX, Mad Caddies, Snuff, Bouncing Souls, Goldfinger, Frenzal Rhomb, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Anti-Flag, Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, Lagwagon, Pennywise, Big D and the Kids Table, Distillers etc etc. After my set Justin told me that I played his favourite NOFX song 'Seeing Double at the Triple Rock' and that he was flattered that I played his track 'Turncoat'.

The next P-Rock is Saturday 18th September and will feature Boston Pop-Punk outfit A Loss For Words (www.myspace.com/alossforwords) plus support.
Check out all the details here:

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=65488405822&ref=ts#!/event.php?eid=136460393054441&index=1

Also, if you loved or still adore the likes of Slipknot, Deftones, Taproot, System of a Down, Limp Bizkit, Lost Prophets, Korn, Drowning Pool, Fear Factory, Spineshank, Sepultura, Soulfly, Mudvayne, Kittie, Machinehead, Orgy, Marilyn Manson, Linkin Park, Rage Against the Machine, HedPE, Static X, Glassjaw, Alien Ant Farm, Disturbed, Kid Rock, POD, Raging Speedhorn, Puddle of Mudd, Rob Zombie etc etc..... Then you might like sister club night Whatever Happend to Nu Metal? which also takes place at The Macbeth. I had a great time DJing at the last one, also last month and can't wait for the next!

I'll post more details up when I know!

Much love,

TSA WINTER GAMES

There’s less than two weeks to go until the inaugural TSA Indoor Winter Games kicks off, bringing its hybrid combination of snowboarding, athletics and comedy to the mighty slopes of Milton Keynes. A whole host of teams have already signed up for the night of mayhem, which will see them go head-to-head in such unusual events as Snowboard High Jump, Snowboard Hurdles and Snowboard Long Jump.

As it’s sponsored by TSA, the event will feature some pretty sick prizes – including a cool £150 bar tab for the winning team! And seeing as most of the events seem to demand a balls-out approach rather than any particular level freestyle skill, there’s a fair chance that any given team could win on the night. It’s only £75 to enter a team of four at the moment (less than £20 per person), but that goes up to £100 on August 21st. So why not clear your diaries for August 28th, and head up to MK for a night of snow-filled madness!

The 2010 Racers Edge-Volkl Big Air

LAKE WANAKA, New Zealand -- A high-calibre field of skiers and snowboarders turned out for the Racers Edge-Volkl Big Air on Saturday, to take on the 40ft big air jump in the Saddle Basin of Treble Cone.

Hundreds of spectators were treated to a multitude of fancy tricks, flips and big air as competitors gave it their all during the two hour jam session. The judges were impressed with the Rodeo 5s, 1080s and corked spins performed by the talented skiers and snowboarders.

The men's ski competition was dominated by Wanaka locals with Hamish McDougall topping the podium, brother Fraser McDougall in second and Finn Bilous third.

In the men's snowboard section Jim Dabbadrie (France) claimed the men's title with Linus Kron (Sweden) and Hadley Boyle (Wanaka) second and third respectively.

Daniela Darilova from Slovakia gained first place in the women's snowboard competition.

Stand-out performances by three Wanaka grommets Manu Bernard (9), Hank Bilous (12) and Finn Bilous (10) were commended by the panel of judges, with ten year old Finn achieving third and Hank fourth overall in the men's ski competition.

Spectators and quad chairlift passengers also had a fun day with plenty of giveaways for the crowd, music by Wanaka Beats, entertaining MCs and a free sausage sizzle.

The second Racers Edge-Volkl Big Air is set for Saturday 4th September. This will be run as a separate competition as well as a linked series event with a grand prize from Icebreaker up for grabs.

The prize pool included goodies from Racers Edge, Volkl, Icebreaker, Mother, Sessions and Smith.

Snowboard News: Pop star to develop skins

Exo-Flex announced today that it has signed an agreement with American pop artist Mitch O'Connell to develop an exclusive line of mobile, gaming, and action sports decals. The deal is the first of its kind to pair a popular artist with such a broad a range of personal adhesives—commonly known as skins.

Set to debut at San Diego's ASR Trade Show on August 13, the skins allow users to customize their mobile devices, gaming equipment, or action sports gear with exclusive art and designs. Exo-Flex, the fourth largest skin company in the United States, is the first to branch into the action sports market.

"I'm thrilled to be working with Exo-Flex,” said Mitch O'Connell, whose work has been seen in Newsweek and The New York Times, as well as featured in campaigns for McDonalds and Coca-Cola. "And I am quite pleased that even more lucky people will be able to experience the joy that comes from gazing at my amazing art.”

Six original pieces have been provided to Exo-Flex under the deal, orchestrated by Kustom Licensing CEO Sean Patterson and Exo-Flex president Titi Ngoy. Using a proprietary printing technique, the art's vivid colors are preserved intact, while an exclusive sealant procedure protects against fading, scratching of bubbling. The technology is also water-resistant, allowing large-format skins to be placed on snowboards as well as skateboards.

"If you wanted a new design before, you'd have to pay hundreds of dollars for a new board,” said Ngoy. "Now, you simply apply an Exo-Flex skin.” Mitch O'Connell is the latest high-profile artist to establish a deal with Exo-Flex, the first skin company in history to be awarded a Mobile Merit Award of Excellence for advancing the art and science of the mobile industry.

Next was Centurion, a Roman period drama. http://www.subba-cultcha.com/film-reviews/article.php?contentID=20773

I've also reviewed The Count and Sinden's debut album Mega Mega Mega. If you like electro mixed with indie, dubstep, hip hop and latin beats; then this is for you. http://www.subba-cultcha.com/album-reviews/article.php?contentID=20780

Enjoy! More reviews are on their way. I have a stack of CDs and DVDs to watch and write about over the weekend! I am also currently loving the True Blood and Son of Anarchy series and cannot wait to see The Expendables next week so I can drool over Dolf Lundgren! But why did Sly Stallone leave out The Muscles from Brussels in his casting line up?! That's what I want to know!

Rebellion Festival review on Subba Cultcha

This is me with Charlie, the front-man of legendary punk band UK Subs. I reviewed the old skool punk festival Rebellion in Blackpool at the beginning of this month, where I got to photograph and write about the original punk rockers as well as more contemporary artists including Vice Squad, Penetration, Big D and the Kids Table, F***ed Up, Citizen Fish, Star F***ing Hipsters, The Slackers, Dwarves, Agnostic Front, Gallows, UK Subs plus many many more.

This was one of the best festivals I have ever attended. The crowd were the friendliest bunch I have ever encountered, the organisation of the event meant very few bands I wanted to see were clashing and there was absolutely no trouble whatsoever.

Check out my review at: http://www.subba-cultcha.com/live-reviews/article.php?contentID=20793

Camp Bestival review on Subba Cultcha

Hey hey!! It's been a busy old Summer. Camp Bestival was one of the amazing festivals I was out reviewing! Here's me and my buddy Becky chilling during The Wurzels set! One of the festival's highlight along with Madness, Pronghorn, Friendly Fires, The Human League, The Cuban Brothers and Seth Lakeman.
I was lucky enough to have a back stage pass so I got to rub shoulders with the likes of Lee Scratch Perry, The Cuban Brothers, Madness, The Hypnotic Bass Ensemble and Pete and the Pirates; as well as use some rather posh flushing toilets!
